When cold meets heat – and we get time together
Something happens when you turn off your cell phone and let your body take over. When you share the silence in a warm pool and dare to take that cold dip together. At SPA Horisont at TanumStrand it is clearly noticeable, the guests leave a little calmer. And sometimes a little more in love.
– “Many people look different when they leave the spa,” says Karin Jonasson, spa manager at TanumStrand.
– Shoulders are lowered. The gaze is softer. And I think they often look a little dearer, she laughs.
The winter that makes us stop
When winter comes, we peel away much of the noise. The air becomes clearer, the pace slower.
– That’s when the need for recovery is greatest. To just be,” says Karin, who has over 30 years of experience in the industry.
Sometimes the spa is quiet and still, sometimes filled with conversation and laughter – and that balance is just as healthy as the rest itself.
– You can choose the time to visit us according to your needs. For example, a Saturday afternoon is more social than a Sunday morning.
At SPA Horisont, located right by the pier in northern Bohuslän, winter is one of the most popular seasons.
– The contrast between cold and heat does something to us. The body wakes up, but beats At the same time, it goes deeper.
The sea that makes the difference
Proximity to the sea is key. Guests step from the sauna straight into the sea, breathe fresh air and are greeted by the horizon.
– It’s hard to stress out when you’re sitting in a warm pool and seeing the sea lying still in front of you. I often see our guests dozing off and I think it’s a good sign that they feel safe and relaxed.
The spa is divided into smaller rooms, creating a sense of calm and security – whether you’re looking for quiet or to share the experience with others.
The cold bath – straight into the present
Cold baths have become increasingly popular, at all ages.
– There are many health benefits, but above all you become very present. You can’t think about anything other than right now.
For those who are curious but hesitant, there are no requirements.
– We guide, but never force. Breathing is the key.
A place for couples
In winter, spas are particularly popular with couples.
– It becomes more intimate. You sit together in the outdoor pool, perform rituals on each other or book duo treatments.
In the run-up to Valentine’s Day, this becomes particularly clear.
– We need time to see each other. Spa provides just that.
Small moments that stick with you
Floating cushions in the pool, relaxation rooms, hot hobs and saunas with soft scents.
– Many people just want to close their eyes for a while. And often that is enough.
– The best thing about my job is that the guests leave grateful for the time they gave themselves, or each other,” says Karin.
