Lobster premiere in 2026
Monday, September 21 at 07.00 starts this year’s lobster premiere – one of the most anticipated moments of the fall on the west coast. The season runs until December 31 and marks the beginning of one of Bohuslän’s most traditional experiences.
During weeks 39-44, we offer our exclusive lobster fishing package with arrival on Friday and check-out on Sunday – a weekend filled with salty winds, community and authentic coastal culture.
Lobster fishing is more than just fishing. It’s a living tradition from Bohuslän’s fishing communities, where knowledge and stories have been passed down for generations. Join us out at sea, pull the pots, bait the hooks and listen to captivating stories about life along the coast and about the black gold of the sea – the lobster.
The experience is organized in collaboration with Selin Charter, with long experience of fishing trips in the Fjällbackaand Grebbestad archipelago. Together we create an authentic and memorable experience where nature, tradition and taste meet.

For those who do not book the lobster fishing package, it is possible to join the boat trip only.
Departure from the pier at the sea sauna. Join us on the boat, see the archipelago, help pull buckets with the black gold of the sea and hear stories from the staff on board. Coffee is included on board the boat.

What can you experience?
Practical information
On the boat there is a toilet and space to warm up. Dress in your own comfortable, loose clothing according to the weather. Several layers are usually good and preferably a waterproof layer of outerwear. Boots are not a must, but can be good with sturdier winter boots. At this time of year, the Bohuslän archipelago is magically beautiful, and with the right clothes and a heated boat, this is one of the absolute best experiences of the sea you can experience in western Sweden!
How to fish for lobster?
Lobsters may only be fished with lobster traps, which should have at least two circular escape openings of at least 60 millimeters. For recreational lobster fishing, a private individual may have a maximum of six lobster traps per person, while professional fishermen with a fishing license may have up to 40 traps. The pots are placed on the seabed during the fishing season, with a buoy leading to the surface with a marker. The markings are either balls or cylinders in the colors red, orange, yellow or white.
A lobster needs to have a carapace length longer than 9 centimeters between the back of the eye and the back of the head to be kept. If it is shorter than 9 centimeters, you are obliged to release it back into the sea. It is also not allowed to keep a lobster carrying roe.
A live lobster is black, and is called the "black gold of the sea". When the lobster is cooked, the shell changes color and turns red.

Book accommodation hotel room or cottage
We have three choices to stay overnight – stay in one of our hotel rooms, in self-catering cottage or cottage with hotel standard.
The difference between self-catering and hotel standard cabins is that bed linen, towels, breakfast and entrance to the Stora Blå family pool are included in the hotel standard, and this is purchased in the self-catering cabin. In both cabin types you can prepare your own meals in the cabin kitchen.
Seafood buffet on Friday evening
A delicious seafood buffet where all the salty delights of the sea come together with rich accessories on a sumptuous buffet table. We serve crayfish, shrimps, mussels, crabs and much more. Included for those who booked the Archipelago Package with dinner included on Friday (not during the Christmas table season or during the period June 15-August 15)
