– It’s hard to explain until you’ve been here this time of year,” says May-Therese Halvorsen, Sales Manager for Norway.
“As a Norwegian, I am spoiled with beautiful nature and mountains, but Bohuslän is something completely different. Here the sea is closer, the calm deeper and the meetings more personal. This is where the locals come out and life feels real.”
May-Therese’s top tip for conference guests is to take a walk along the sea into Grebbestad village.
– It’s an amazing experience, whatever the weather. The smell of the sea and the sound of the waves clear your mind and bring you to land.

In between meetings, there are experiences that add the finishing touches to the days: Spa with sea bath and sauna, lobster fishing and the classic crayfish boil in Sjöboden, with freshly cooked crayfish and fresh oysters served right by the sea.
– The contrasts here are unique, says Anders.
“Standing outside in the fresh air, feeling the wind and then stepping into the warmth, it’s pure magic.”
He also suggests booking an extra day.
– Bring your coffee basket from us and visit one of the small fishing communities around. Then you will understand why we love Bohuslän.
A place for memories
Some conferences are particularly memorable. Anders tells of a large company that chose to have dinner on the cliffs, where the chefs cooked outdoors while the sun set over the archipelago.
– There was dancing, music and a sense that you were really in a place that matters.
For an international company, with leaders from twelve different countries, TanumStrand became an unexpected place of community.
– They said afterwards that it was the first time they could really relax and be themselves. There is something about the atmosphere here, relaxed, warm and genuine.
