“Honestly – sometimes I want to check in at TanumStrand myself”
I love my job. So much so that every Sunday afternoon I sit down with a cup of coffee and start planning the week ahead. For me it’s a way to relax, I like to say that I “relax when I’m connected”. And even though I work here every day, I can honestly say that sometimes I wish I could check in as a regular guest.
What a summer we have had here at TanumStrand! The summer of 2025 will go down in history as one of our very best, with glorious weather for several weeks, a fully booked hotel and guests who really enjoyed everything we have to offer. During the busiest weeks we had 100% occupancy and August was our best month ever. It is amazing to see how many guests now choose to stay longer with us, often 4-5 days, and still feel that the days are not quite enough. That’s exactly what we want, to be a destination where you can both relax and experience something new every day
Our new BeachClub was a success in its first summer. It has quickly become an obvious meeting place for both younger guests and families who want to enjoy food, drink and a great atmosphere by the sea. In the high summer alone, we served over 400 dishes a day at Dockside – a testament to the commitment of both guests and staff. We decided to leave the AfterBeach concept behind and create a more sophisticated meeting place. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and to be able to offer our exclusive Breakfast DeLuxe – a separate section with à la carte, a 16-year age limit and magical sea views – is another thing that makes me proud.
We also notice how our season is getting longer. Already in March we started with large conferences, and also during the late summer and fall we have had more guests than ever before, not least from Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium and even the United States. It’s exciting that we’re reaching out to new markets and getting the chance to show more people what a fantastic place Bohuslän and Grebbestad are.
And now it’s time for the next step in our journey. On October 1, we will start a major remodeling where we, among other things, make our lobby 130 square meters larger with room for over 100 new guests, create 12 brand new hotel rooms and build a new patio in front of the main entrance and the playground. There will be plenty of space for coffee, work, AW and relaxing in the sun. “When everything is ready in the summer of 2026, I want guests to feel a real ‘wow’ feeling as soon as they drive into the area and step through the doors.
I am impatient by nature, I always want to move forward. For me, it is important that we never stand still. We have already transformed TanumStrand into a modern and vibrant resort with newly renovated rooms, upgraded cottages, a fantastic spa and new restaurant spaces, but I envision even more unique experiences in the future. Floating boathouses, new exclusive rooms and more opportunities to get really close to the sea are some of the ideas we dream of.

I can’t see a day when I want to “log off”. I strongly believe in the future, both for TanumStrand and for our industry. More and more people want to discover their own country and our part of the west coast is only becoming more sought after. With genuine guest service and a constant focus on quality, we will continue to be a place where people want to return, all year round.
For me and my family, TanumStrand is the best place in the world. Whether it’s a run along the sea, an evening at the spa or a simple dinner with friends. But I especially want to highlight something that many people miss: an ordinary Friday evening in January, when the wind is blowing and the waves are hitting the rocks. That’s when TanumStrand is at its most magical.
Now we’re looking forward to an autumn filled with yoga, lobster trips, crayfishing, Grebbestads oysters, salty baths and trail runs. I hope to see you here at TanumStrand, where the archipelago is always waiting for you.
