In spring 2023, the Grebbestad oyster was granted a protected designation of origin.

The Klemming brothers
Peter and Bengt Klemming have been fishing oysters professionally in the waters off Grebbestad for 20 years. Peter’s daughter, Lotta, also works as a licensed oyster fisherman. They are almost alone in selling wild oysters and estimate that they account for 90 percent of the dive-picked wild oysters that reach fishmongers and restaurants. All oysters are hand-picked in the wild, and manually handled.
