The nature around Bohuslän is unique, there are several walking trails and hiking trails close to the hotel and just a few minutes away by car awaits breathtaking nature reserves such as Tjurpannan and Veddö. At the reception there are poles to borrow for those who want to engage in Nordic Walking.
Hike the Coastal Path
Kuststigen is an excellent hiking trail in several stages that takes you out into the beautiful coastal landscape of Bohuslän, Østfold and Akershus. The coastal path can be followed from TanumStrand via the promenade towards Grebbestad fishing village.
Are you up for a full day of hiking?
Then we recommend you follow the Coastal Path all the way to Valbret’s grave! According to legend, a Scottish chieftain named Valbret is buried here. He was killed by the people of Tanum sometime during the Viking Age, about a thousand years ago, and even today the grave is called Valbret’s grave. Once at the grave site, there is a 3.3 km hiking trail that consists largely of nature trails. Take the opportunity to have a coffee break or enjoy a packed lunch before heading home. In total, the round trip is about 12km (+ 3.3km hiking trail) and is perfect as a day adventure.
If you feel that your legs are tired after the long journey, it is possible to take the bus back to Grebbestad. There are several different buses and the nearest bus stop is called Rödhällebacken and is located about 1.5km from Valbrets Grav. From there there are buses to Grebbestad bus station.
Hike in Tanum's World Heritage Site
Hike along the 6-kilometer hiking trail that is a trail for cultural experience and wellness. An agricultural landscape with an 8000-year-old continuous settlement and its rich flora. Discover the amazing rock carvings along the trail.
Experience Vitlycke
Vitlycke Museum is a knowledge and experience center in Tanum’s world heritage. An area with around 600 rock carving sites. Here you can go with a guide, or wander freely between the rocks and interpret the unique carvings. At the museum you will find a café, shop and an exhibition that is a dramatic story for the whole family.
Experience nature trails
From the hotel there are nature trails for those who want to hike or run in the beautiful nature around TanumStrand. You can walk on paths along the sea, both south and north from the hotel. Maps are available to borrow for those who want to take the beach walk to Grebbestad or a trip to Kämpersvik.
Ranebo Outdoor Facility
Swap a day at the coast for outdoor life among the treetops! About 30 minutes from the hotel you will find Ranebos Friluftsanläggning, located in a scenic area at the foot of Nedre Bolsjön. Here you can swim, barbecue, fish, rent kayaks, play disc golf and hike. Adjacent to the facility there is a 2.4km exercise loop and a 4km hiking loop. Take the opportunity to visit the Rövargrottan during your hike!
